E-portfolio Helps Document Students' Achievements
Electronic portfolio are used in career conselling, course planning, student advising among others.

The Centre for Instructional Technology in NUS has started work on an e-portfolio system. Individual students will have in their portfolio:

  • selected evidence of academic achievement from coursework,
  • artefacts from co-curricular activities, exchange programs, industrial attachments, employment etc and
  • Reflective annotations and commentary related to these experiences.

Students become actively involved in reflecting, planning, and achieving their own educational goals. They also benefit by:

  • sharing examples of their work with potential employers,
  • Demonstrating knowledge, skills and attributes gained beyond the classroom.
  • Planning for long term life long learning.

The NUS el-portfolio has a section known as “Learning Path” where students plan for the courses they intend to take, keep track of their achievements, lecturer’s comments and set career and personal goals. The “Learning Path” allow students to take note of their strengths and weaknesses. The system when completed, enables final year students to select relevant information and create online resumes that highlight their strengths.
