Creating Web Based Content with MS Producer

Microsoft Producer is an add-on for Microsoft PowerPoint version 2002 in Office XP that makes it easy to capture, synchronize, and publish audio, video, slides, and images. With it, you can create engaging and effective rich-media presentations that can be viewed on demand in a web browser via Internet, Intranet from a CD distribution.

1. Please ensure you have PowerPoint 2002 before downloading MS Producer. The installation steps are fairly simple.
   
2. Upon installing you need to build up your project by importing content (such as video, audio, PowerPoint slides, images, HTML, etc.) onto the Tree pane. Click on the individual content type follow by import. Do not move or rename the physical content files from Windows Explorer once it is link in MS Producer. That is why it is a good practice to make a copy and house all the contents of the same project within a common folder. As for HTML content, you can use the web browser to save the web pages.
   
3. Next drag all the content and arrange them into the Timeline track at the bottom of the screen. You can the use the Synchronize function to assist in aligning the Powerpoint slides to the video/audio.
   
4. Finally to add enhance your presentation, you add the various templates to the timeline track. Video effect and transition can also be added in the same manner.
   
5. You can index your presentation by clicking on Table of content tab. Mouse-over the Timeline display and click to set a position. Next click on Add button to add the index. By default, all the PowerPoint slides timeline will be indexed.
   
6. Click on the Publish button and choose the mode of publishing. CIT supports publishing to Web/Streaming server such as K:\ drive. Next you need to choose the format for publishing based on the various profile shown follow by a last click on the Finish button
   
7. Lastly, save the project file so that you can make any amendment or updating for future re-publishing purposes.

  System Requirement
Microsoft Producer requires the following minimum system requirements:
• Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional with Service Pack 1 or higher, or Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition or Professional
• 400 megahertz (MHz) processor, such as Intel Pentium
• 128 megabytes (MB) of RAM
• 2 gigabytes (GB) of free hard disk space
• An audio capture device to capture audio
• A video (DV or analog) capture device to capture video
• Microsoft PowerPoint 2002
• An Internet or network connection (to publish a presentation to a Web site, e-service provider, intranet site, or shared network location).
