Copernic 2001 Basic provides a one-click access to search engines on the Internet, including AltaVista, Excite, HotBot, Infoseek, Lycos, WebCrawler and Yahoo!

Copernic 2001 Basic covers over 80 of the best information sources on the Internet grouped into seven categories; including The Web, Newsgroups, Buy Books, Hardware & Software and many more. To further facilitate users’ ease-of-use, Copernic 2001 Basic includes a quick search bar in addition to the existing search wizard. Moreover, Copernic 2001 Basic also provides document previews of result Web pages helping the user to determine the relevancy of results before browsing through them. The tool also claimed to place the most relevant result at the top of the result report generated in seconds and free of duplicates.

Users may download Copernic 2001 Basic for free software (software is now Copernic Agent Basic). Note that only Copernic 2001 Basic is free, while the Copernic 2001 Plus and Copernic 2001 Pro have to be purchased.
